Why Carbon & Reverse Osmosis Filtered Water?

Reverse osmosis water uses the process of osmosis in reverse to remove contaminants that are in drinking water. It works by using energy to push water through a semi-permeable membrane that removes chemical contaminants and pesticides as well as copper, lead, arsenic, fluoride, radium, sulfate, nitrate, and phosphorous as well as pharmaceutical drugs that may end up in our water system. Reverse osmosis has also been shown to remove estrogen which ends up in the water supply due to birth control. Additionally, carbon filters remove chlorine, fluoride, VOCs, pesticides, heavy metals, nitrates, nitrites, bacteria and parasites from the water.

Check out the Environmental Working Group’s (EWG) “Tap Water Database”. Here you can enter your zip code to see what pollutants are in the tap water in your community.

Even though reverse osmosis does remove the minerals from the water along with the contaminants, we still think this type of processing is our best option in today’s day & age. If you desire to, you can add something like trace mineral drops specifically designed to be added to water to compensate for the minerals that are removed.
